Biosketch

After her BEng and MSc in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pavia, Italy, Danila obtained her PhD in Computer Science in 2018 at University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy.  From 2014 to 2016, she held a research fellowship at Institute of Biomedical Technology of the National Research Council (ITB-CNR, Milan, Italy).  From 2016 to 2018 Danila worked at the Laboratory of Informatics and Systemic for Clinical Research (LISCR), Clinical Scientific Institute Maugeri, Pavia, Italy.  Since 2018 she works at Fondazione Ri.MED, Italy, in the Group of Bioengineering & Medical Devices, where she is Scientist in Informatics Bioengineering and coordinates the computer science applications to bioengineering and interdisciplinary research projects.

Scientific Activity

Danila’s research activity has covered several disciplines, ranging from the numerical analysis of cardiovascular prostheses to the development of software and algorithms for the interpretation of proteomic and genomic data using clustering, for clinical research and hospital data archiving.   Now Danila is focusing her research on the applications of computer science to bioengineering, using statistical approaches, machine learning, genetic algorithms and neural networks, and the analysis and processing of clinical images.  These applications are often aimed at the development and evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic treatments in the cardiovascular area.
