Alessia obtained her MEng in Environmental and Territorial Engineering in 2011 and completed her first PhD in 2015, with a project on computational modelling of wave motion energy converters at the University of Palermo, Italy.  From 2015 to 2016 Alessia carried out study and research activities at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil, and from 2016 to 2017 she worked as a Post Doctoral researcher at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil.  Since 2020 Alessia has obtained a doctoral scholarship in the Engineering Department of the University of Palermo, Italy, in collaboration with Ri.MED Foundation.

Scientific Activity

Alessia’s project deals with the development of a new numerical method based on the Lagrangian smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) approach, for the modelling of the thromboembolic phenomenon.  Furthermore, Alessia deals with the implementation of new rheological models to describe the non-Newtonian thixotropic behaviour of human blood.
