Giuseppe Barberi graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Palermo in 2021. In 2024, he completed his doctoral studies in Molecular and Biomolecular Sciences at the same university, with a thesis entitled “Polysaccharide-based injectable/printable hydrogels as therapeutic systems for drug delivery and regenerative medicine”, under the supervision of Professors Giovanna Pitarresi and Calogero Fiorica. During his PhD, he spent six months at the POLYMA-Basque Centre for Macromolecular Design and Engineering in Donostia-San Sebastian, specifically in the BioSMARTE lab under the supervision of Dr Sandra Camarero Espinosa.

He is currently engaged in the study, development and optimisation of small- and large-scale synthetic routes at the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr Maria De Rosa.
