Biographical notes
Elvira Passalacqua graduated in 2023 with a degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies from the University of Palermo, with an experimental thesis in Medicinal Chemistry entitled ‘Synthesis and evaluation of the photosensitising activity of pyrrole-pyrimidine systems in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer’. Since 2024, she has held a scholarship as a scientist in the Medicinal Chemistry group at the Ri.MED Foundation, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr Maria De Rosa.
Scientifical activity
Elvira Passalacqua began her professional training with a thesis focused on the synthesis and characterisation of new angelicin analogues, furocoumarin derivatives used as potential anticancer agents with phototoxic activity against triple-negative breast cancer.
She is currently engaged in the study, development and optimisation of small- and large-scale synthetic pathways at the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr Maria De Rosa.
