Biographical Notes
Valentina Pinto obtained her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Palermo in 2021, with a thesis carried out at the Bioengineering and Medical Devices laboratory of the Ri.MED Foundation. In 2025 she completed her doctorate in ‘Mechanical, Manufacturing, Management and Aerospace Innovation’ at the University of Palermo, with a project carried out in collaboration with the Ri.MED Foundation and University College London (UCL), UK, aimed at the advanced thermomechanical characterisation of superelastic Ni-Ti alloys for biomedical devices. In the same year she took the position of Post Doctoral Researcher in Biomechanics at the Bioengineering & Medical Devices Group of Ri.MED Foundation.
Scientific Activity
Valentina has experience in the thermo-mechanical characterisation of biomaterials, including NiTi alloys, by means of experimental stress analysis techniques such as digital image correlation and infrared thermography. Currently, her research activity is focussed on the experimental assessment of medical devices.
