9/29/2023 Ri.MED@Sharper 2023 con “La nostra partita contro il cancro: dalla difesa all’attacco!”

On Friday 29 September the Ri.MED Foundation was once again active participant at Sharper, the European Researchers’ Night, which took place in Viale delle Scienze from 6pm until late in the evening. This was one of the most attended editions ever!

A special thanks to the Ri.MED testimonials of this edition, who were able to involve and interest the visitors with the workshop “La nostra partita contro il cancro: dalla difesa all’attacco!”. Thanks to Monica Miele, Ugo Perricone, Francesca Timoneri, Mariangela Di Bella, Giovanna Frazziano, Maria Rita Gulotta and Giada De Simone!

The children had fun by coloring cute macrophages, cells and atoms, by building molecules and even by playing table football in a symbolic match between good and bad cells!

The older visitors were able to discover more about tumor cells: the Regenerative Medicine and Immunotherapy researchers illustrated the evolution of the pathology and its regression through simple and explanatory representations: laboratory models, imaging fluorescence to be observed under the microscope, and many other useful aspects for understanding the mechanisms that regulate the immune system. Molecular Informatics researchers showed theire computational models, wich our scientists use to design new drug therapies against cancer.

The European Researchers’ Night is a public event, promoted by the European Union, and it’s dedicated to scientific dissemination and playful learning. It takes place every year, on the last Friday of September. Over 30 European countries and more than 300 cities participate.

Please, find below the pictures of the evening and download the coloring sheets!
