Biographical notes
Viviana Benfante is currently a PhD student in Molecular and Clinical Medicine at the University of Palermo, Italy, in collaboration with the Ri.MED Foundation, Imaging and Radiomics group.
She had a Degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology for Industry and Scientific Research at the University of Palermo. She is a research affiliate at the Institute of Bioimaging and Molecular Physiology, National Research Council (IBFM-CNR). She is author of over 15 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings.
Scientifical activity
She is a member of the Italian Society for Radiation Research, Society of Radiopharmaceutical Science and European Society of Radiation Biology. She was awarded as Young Investigator (ERRS 2022 Award). Research areas that she carries out within the Imaging and Radiomics group include:
Radiobiology studies through the use of Radiopharmaceuticals In-Vitro on cellular models (𝛾 counter) and In-Vivo on animal models, Biodistribution of Radiopharmaceuticals In-Vivo through non-invasive imaging (PET/CT, High Resolution CT, MRI, IVIS), Theranostics and Targeted Radionuclide Therapy based on Ionizing Radiation in Oncology.
