Biographical notes

Dr. Arianna Adamo received her bachelor in Biotechnology in 2014 at the University of Messina (Italy) and her MS in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Parma (Italy) in 2016. In 2021, she earned her PhD in Technology and Science for Human Health from a joint program by the University of Palermo (Italy) and the University of Pittsburgh McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine (USA). Since 2020, Dr. Adamo serves as a scientist at Ri.MED Foundation for the Prof D’Amore team in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering. In her free time, Arianna enjoys hiking in the nature, cooking and travelling.

Scientific activity

Dr. Adamo’s research focuses on the cellular response to the mechanical stimuli applied to fibrous scaffold whit complex geometries. She is leading projects that involve the use of the mandrel-less electrodeposition technique to fabricate scaffold and tissue surrogates with axial symmetric structures (e.g.; tendons, ligament, chordae tendineae, medical textiles), controlled micro-architecture, and tunable mechanics. Currently, the main goal of her activity is reproducing chordae tendineae physiological morphology and mechanism. Her technical expertise include: in vitro and ex vivo procedures (e.g.; cell culture, use of bioreactors, primary cell isolation), molecular biology techniques (e.g.; nucleic acid and protein quantification, IHC), microscopy, mechanical testing and biofabrication techniques.
