Fondazione RiMED is founding member of ITS Academy New life technologies “Alessandro Volta” in Palermo.
“After many years of fruitful collaboration as member of the I.T.S. Academy technical-scientific committee and as hosting institution for bachelors in Biomedicine and Biotechnology, RiMED today has been honored with the title of founding member, recognizing to the I.T.S Academy Foundation a strong heritage in the territory and the capacity to train new professional figures in the view of the upcoming RiMED research center in Carini”, RiMED President Paolo Aquilanti said regarding the new role that RiMED will have within the Sicilian Postgraduate School.
Rumor was made official news on Thursday 3rd of October 2024, in occasion of the event “The Beauty of Work”, during which students were awarded of Postgraduate Technical diploma in Biomedicine and Biotechnology.
The urge to train and enter into employment of young post-grad technicians was the main topic of the event that took place on the 3rd of October 2024 in Palermo at the Marina Convention Center in the Molo Trapezoidale and that could experience on the attendance of Institutions, Schools and Enterpises, along with students and their families. The event was moderated by Nino Amadore from the journal Sole24Ore and opened with the intervention of Maria Pia Pensabene, President of the I.T.S. Academy: “Today we all celebrate The Beauty of Work, as long–waited and well–deserved epilogue of an intense study programme, accomplished with effort, commitment and passion; the beauty of work, not just as a technical-professional achievement, but also as a necessary condition to be an active citizen part of the community, because 5 years after its birth, we can finally state that our I.T.S. Academy today is a Community accounting for: 20 schools, many public institutions, the University of Palermo, Research Centers and over 100 Businesses and above all 300 students and their families, truly represent an extraordinary Community.
Fabrizio Ferrandelli, councilor of Digital Innovation of Palermo City Council, Guido Torrielli, President of the national network I.T.S. ITALY and Mimmo Turano, councilor of Instruction and Professional Formation of Region Sicily, spoke during the meeting. An important time of reflection was initiated during the round table: ”Technical and technological training in Sicily: a real urgent need”, to which many important school and business exponent attended.
RiMED was represented by the general secretariat Emanuele Insinna, reiterating the importance of formative programmes set by I.T.S. to train young students to play specific roles; as it happens onboard of the ultra performing and winning sailing boats racing for the America’s Cup, likewise a company needs that every member does its specific job precisely and professionally using the appropriate specific skills.
Fabrizio Ferrandelli, declared: “Formative post-graduate programmes available at the ITS A. Volta represent a real valid opportunity for young people who are trained specifically addressing the needs of those companies involved in biomedical innovation in our territory. This translates into 100% job opportunities”.
Francesco Pinelli, Head of Department 3 – Planning and handling interventions in for university, scientific and technologic research, has underlined how “the action of Region Sicily should be more and more prone to the activation of instruction programmes that are technologically advanced. This is the aim that our Department has been willing to activate for the last two years.”
At the end of the round table, the president of Young entrepreneurs and Confindustria and delegate of education, Riccardo Di Stefano, said: “I.T.S Academy A. Volta has demonstrated that teaching and conferring formative responsibilities is the key for success, above all in the South regions of Italy, where the impact of a new school system, practical and more job-orientated is more evident in a socio-economic context that faces many significantly critical conflicts on a daily basis”.
RiMED believes that is crucial to invest on young, competent and properly- trained figures to be part of the new research center.
