Biographical notes

Dr. Marzio Di Giuseppe received his bachelor in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 and his MS in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 at the University of Palermo (Italy). In 2016, he worked as visiting student at the University of Pittsburgh McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine (USA). In 2019 he spent 1 year at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France) as a visiting PhD student. In 2021, he earned a PhD at the University of Palermo (Italy) with a thesis on micromechanical modeling of aortic pathologies. Since 2021, Dr. Di Giuseppe serves as scientist at Fondazione Ri.ME for the Prof. D’Amore team in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering.

Scientific activity

Dr. Di Giuseppe’s research focuses on the development of numerical models to predict de novo tissue growth, native tissue remodelling, and polymeric degradation. In particular, he investigates how mechanical and topological cues impact on tissue growth. A deep understanding of the mechanisms responsible for extracellular matrix formation and elaboration is requested to optimize the development of scaffold for cardiovascular tissue engineering applications. Dr. Di Giuseppe’s scientific skills include also: 3D CAD modeling, mechanical modeling and testing, FEM analysis, image analysis and processing, programming, and reverse engineering.
