Alessandra obtained her MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Palermo, where she also completed her PhD, including a one-year research stay at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology at Imperial College London. She then moved to Paris for her postdoctoral training, first at Institut Curie and subsequently at I-Stem. After returning to the University of Palermo, she focused her research on cancer biology, investigating how the extracellular matrix regulates the effectiveness of chemotherapy in breast cancer using spheroid models, work that culminated in two excellent publications.Her strong background in cancer research fits perfectly with the goals of the BIOGEN4MED project, which is supporting her current position; within this framework, she will actively contribute to the project’s research activities by applying her expertise to advance its objectives in translational biomedical research.
