From September 5th to 8th, 2024, the annual Park Art Fest organized by the Almoad association, took place in Carini’s city park. The Ri.MED Foundation contributed to the event with a workshop for children.
On September 5th, researchers Anna Paola Carreca and Giovanna Frazziano guided young participants through the world of molecular biology. By reconstructing the steps that lead from genetic information to the creation of a protein, the audience experienced how a small modification in genetic information can lead to significant diseases.
The “Read My DNA” workshop focused on sickle cell anemia, a disease caused by a DNA mutation that results in the production of deformed red blood cells.
Ri.MED’s participation in the event underscores the foundation’s connection to the area where our research center is being built.
