Biographical notes

Stefano Puccio is currently PhD student in Biodiversity in Agriculture and Forestry at University of Palermo. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Organic Agriculture in July 2017 and his master’s degree in Science of Agricultural Production and Technology in October 2019 at the University of Palermo. In November 2021 he obtained his national qualification to practice as an agronomist. From April to July 2021, he conducts a period of research activity at the Industrial Systems Institute / Research Centre ATHENA, Patras (Greece) as part of the PhD and European Sustainable project (European Union Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program).

Scientifical activity

Primarily interested in vineyard spatial variability monitoring and management and precision viticulture. Vineyard monitoring via big data analysis. Sustainable vineyard management through IoT, proximal sensing, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and satellite maps. Monitoring of grapevine phenology and yield prediction via RGB and thermal Image analysis. Sustainable vineyard irrigation management. Grape and wine quality analysis. Previously worked on the adaptation of tropical and subtropical fruit crops in Mediterranean environment and on postharvest fruit management.
