Cenni biografici
Dr. Trapani is a specialist in biofabrication and characterization of biological tissues in the Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering research group of Prof. A. D’Amore at Ri.MED Foundation. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (2016) and a Master’s degree in Biomolecular Chemistry (2018), Dr. Trapani earned a PhD in Biology at University of Münster in Germany (2025). During his PhD at Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Dr. Trapani developed and used synthetic biomaterials to mimic the extracellular matrix and study its regulatory role in several biological processes.
Attività Scientifica
Dr. Trapani’s research focuses on the fabrication of a stent-less bio-hybrid esophageal graft for the treatment of benign and malignant esophageal strictures.
In his research project, Dr. Trapani works on tissue decellularization and polymer synthesis to develop materials for the fabrication of the bio-hybrid graft by electrospinning. Dr. Trapani performs native and bio-hybrid tissue characterization through histological and microscopic techniques (optical and scanning electron microscopy).
