Dr. Claudio Martines is a molecular biologist who obtained a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine (Trieste) and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology (Palermo). He continued his academic training and earned a PhD in Molecular Biology in 2022 at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), in collaboration with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Trieste. Following his PhD, he continued his research activity as a postdoctoral researcher at ICGEB until 2025.
Attività Scientifica
His scientific career has developed entirely within international and highly competitive research environments. During his PhD, his research activity focused on the analysis of interactions between leukemic B cells and signals derived from the tumor microenvironment, using in vitro and in vivo models, both murine and human.
During his postdoctoral period, he shifted his research focus toward the functional characterization of recurrent genetic mutations in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and its progression to diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. He is the author and co-author of numerous publications in high-impact international scientific journals.
At the Ri.MED Foundation, he is involved in the Castor & Pollux project and will be responsible for standardizing experimental pipelines for genetic analyses.
