Biographical notes

Alessandro Gorgone is a biomedical laboratory assistant with many years of experience in the field of cellular and molecular pathophysiology. He has carried out his professional activity mainly at the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Pathophysiology of the University of Palermo – A.O.U. “P. Giaccone” University Hospital, contributing to oncological research projects.

Over the years, he has been involved in studies focused on the isolation and characterization of cancer stem cells (CSCs) from human and murine models, working on cell culture techniques, microscopy and imaging, molecular biology, and in vivo experimental procedures, as well as on the analysis of cellular responses to pharmacological treatments in the context of personalized medicine. He has also developed solid expertise in cell line databasing, cryopreservation, laboratory workflow organization, and technical support for research activities, including laboratory safety and scientific equipment management.

Alongside his scientific work, Alessandro Gorgone pursues a personal artistic practice in painting, developed in parallel with his laboratory activity. His artistic research is characterized by an expressive use of color and layered compositions, reflecting a continuous dialogue between methodical rigor and creative freedom.

Scientific activity

Alessandro Gorgone assists in managing the Foundation’s warehouse and provides support in the RNA-based therapeutics and NGS laboratories.
