Ri.MED Symposium 2025 “Engineering Biology for Next-Gen Medicine”

3 July 2025

Don’t miss the 2025 Ri.MED Scientific Symposium entitled “Engineering Biology for Next-Gen Medicine”, taking place on October 16–17, 2025, in Palermo, Italy.

Hosted in the iconic Palazzo dei Normanni—a place where centuries of Sicilian history will meet today’s scientific frontier—the 2025 Ri.MED Symposium will bring together an exceptional group of international researchers for two days of inspiring talks, exchange, and exploration.

The organizers are Tanja Kortemme, University of California San Francisco, Petra Schwille Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Giulio Superti-Furga Ri.MED Foundation and CeMM and Ben Lehner Wellcome Sanger Institute (EMBO Keynote Lecture).

This year’s theme focuses on how re-engineered biological systems, powered by synthetic biology, computational modeling, and AI, are driving the next wave of medical innovation. Across disciplines – synthetic biology, chemical, and bioengineering – we’ll explore how technological convergence is enabling the design of smarter therapies, programmable cells, and precision tools to reshape medicine. From gene editing to biological circuit design, this is a unique opportunity to share your work, engage with leaders in the field, and contribute to the conversation on the future of biomedicine.

The poster session and social dinner will be held in the elegant Palazzo Fatta, one of Palermo’s hidden gems—an evening to connect with peers in a setting rich with heritage.
