Palermo, 22 November 2025 – The Ri.MED Foundation announces that Professor Giulio Superti-Furga has tendered his resignation from his position as Scientific Director of the Foundation, along with the simultaneous renunciation of his prospective appointment as Director of the new Carini Center. These resignations are motivated by personal and family reasons, as well as by a redefinition of his professional commitments in relation to the development timeline of the new Carini research center.
The Foundation, while respecting Professor Superti-Furga’s decision, expresses its gratitude for his professional contribution and the dedication he has shown in the performance of his duties.
The scientific and project-related activities will continue as planned, ensuring full operational and managerial continuity by the coordination of the relevant institutional bodies and in alignment with the development plan agreed upon with international partners. The process for identifying a new Scientific Director will be initiated in the coming days, with the aim of ensuring an orderly transition and the steady advancement of the Foundation’s growth program, also in view of the new research center.
