Park Art Fest 2026 – The Fabrics of Life

A new edition of the PAF – Park Art Fest took place in Piazza Duomo, Carini!

Fondazione Ri.MED participated in the event on September 3rd with a workshop titled The Fabrics of Life – Little Bioengineers Discovering Human Body Tissues. This was a journey of discovery into the tissues and organs of the human body, drawing an intriguing parallel between the characteristics and properties of textile samples and those of human organic tissues.

Around 20 young bioengineers learned to identify—under the microscope—and manually recreate the structures of skin, muscles, tendons, lungs, and intestinal villi, while discovering the vital functions these play in the human body. Through interactive games using elastic threads, colorful pipe cleaners, scraps of eco-leather, and kitchen sponges, the young participants decorated educational boards and played alongside researchers to “repair” human body tissues.

A special thank you goes to Dorotea Fracchiolla, Roberto Di Gesù, Denise Murgia, Francesca Romano, Davide Macaluso, Nadia Consiglio, and Donata Sandri for conceiving and executing the workshop, successfully translating complex scientific concepts into an engaging experience for a young audience.
