Cenni biografici

Elisa Capuana has worked since July 2026 as a Scientist in the Hepatobiliary Regenerative Medicine group at Fondazione Ri.MED, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Maria Giovanna Francipane. She holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (110/110 cum laude, 2018) and a PhD in Information and Communication Technologies (2022) from the University of Palermo, with a thesis carried out at the University of Pittsburgh (USA) on the design of perfusion bioreactors and PLLA scaffolds for in vitro tissue engineering. She worked on biomaterials and scaffolds, and on dynamic cell culture systems for regenerative medicine applications. Between 2022 and 2026, she worked at CNR-IPCB in Naples on the Horizon 2020 MEFISTO project, at CNR-IBF in Palermo on the Human Brain Project, and at the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo as a Fixed-Term Researcher (RTD-A), where she developed Tumor-on-Chip platforms for the PNRR SAMOTHRACE project. Along the way, she gained expertise in three-dimensional in vitro models and computational modeling (CFD) of bioreactor and microfluidic systems.
